Alberto Alemanno
Jean Monnet Professor of EU Law and Risk Regulation, HEC, Paris
Alberto Alemanno is Associate Professor of Law at HEC Paris where he
holds a Jean Monnet Chair in EU Law and Risk Regulation and Adjunct
Professor of Law at Georgetown University where he teaches Global Risk
Regulation. Formerly, he clerked at the Court of Justice of the European
Union and qualified as an attorney at law in New York in 2004. He has
published widely in the areas of EU law, international economic law and
risk regulation. He is the author of Trade in Food ­ Regulatory and Judicial
Approaches in the EU and the WTO (Cameron May, 2007) and editor
of Governing Disasters ­ The Challenges of Emergency Risk Regulation
(Edward Elgar, 2011). Originally from Italy, Alemanno earned a Laurea in
Giurisprudenza cum laude from the Università degli Studi di Torino, LLM
degrees from Harvard Law School and the College of Europe, and a PhD
in International Law & Economics from Bocconi University. He is the
founder and editor of the European Journal of Risk Regulation, a member
of the editorial boards of the Revue du Droit de l'Union européenne and
the European Food and Feed Law Review, and the Area Editor for Policy
of Risk Analysis. He is the founder and scientific director of the Summer
Academy in Global Food Law & Policy. Alemanno has also provided advice
to a variety of organisations, such as the EU and the OECD, on various
aspects of European Union ...
