Book Title: Comparative Government
Editor(s): Popović, Dragoljub
Publisher: Edward Elgar Publishing
Section: Chapter 9
Section Title: Beyond the nation state
Number of pages: 13
Abstract/Description:
This chapter has the forms of government existing beyond nation state as its topic. The European Union is the outstanding example of that phenomenon, being an outcome of the long process of European integration, the beginning of which dates back to the time right after World War II. The author analyses the institutions of the European Union in their current shape, as well as the sources of EU law. After discussing the complicated structure of the institutions of the European Union the author raises the issue of its perspectives. He remains optimistic in that respect, despite Brexit.
