International Symposium on Safer Shipping in the APEC Region
Darling Harbour, Sydney
Convened by the Australian Department of Transport & Regional Services on behalf of the APEC Transportation Working Group.
The Symposium is a full day of discussion by six working groups, followed by a full day plenary session focusing on developing recommendations on safer shipping matters.
The aim is to develop proposals for a major statement by APEC Transport Ministers on safer shipping in the APEC region.
Working groups include:
Global Port State Control;
Flag State Responsibility;
APEC Needs for Safer Shipping;
The Human Element – Education, Training and Welfare;
Improving Maritime Administration and Resources; and
Engaging Other Maritime Organisations and the power of the Media.
