Agents (Amendment) Ordinance 1989

No. 4 of 1989

I, THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL of the Commonwealth of Australia, acting with the advice of the Federal Executive Council, hereby make the following Ordinance under the Seat of Government (Administration) Act 1910.

An Ordinance to amend the Agents Ordinance 1968

Short title

1. This Ordinance may be cited as the Agents (Amendment) Ordinance 1989.1

Principal Ordinance

2. In this Ordinance, “Principal Ordinance” means the Agents Ordinance 1968.2

Applications for licences by individuals

3. Section 48 of the Principal Ordinance is amended—

(a) by omitting paragraph (1) (a) and substituting the following paragraph:

“(a) shall be in writing and signed by the applicant;”;

(b) by omitting from paragraph (1) (d) “he” (wherever occurring) and substituting “the applicant”;

(c) by omitting from paragraph (1) (f) “him” and substituting “the applicant”; and

(d) by inserting in paragraph (1) (f) “or she” after “he”.

Applications for licences by companies

4. Section 49 of the Principal Ordinance is amended by omitting paragraph (1) (a) and substituting the following paragraph:

“(a) shall be in writing and signed on behalf of the company by a director of the company;”.
