Chiropractors Registration (Amendment) Ordinance 1986

An Ordinance to amend the Chiropractors Registration Ordinance 1983
Short title
1. This Ordinance may be cited as the Chiropractors Registration (Amendment) Ordinance 1986.1
Commencement
2. This Ordinance shall come into operation on such date as is fixed by the Minister of State for Territories by notice in the Gazette.
Principal Ordinance
3. In this Ordinance, “Principal Ordinance” means the Chiropractors Registration Ordinance 1983.2
Establishment and constitution of Board
4. Section 4 of the Principal Ordinance is amended—
(a) by omitting sub-section (2), (3) and (4) and substituting the following sub-section:
“(2) The Board shall consist of—
(a) a Chairman, and 2 other members, appointed in accordance with the Health Professions Boards (Procedures) Ordinance 1981; and
(b) 2 members elected, as occasion requires, in accordance with the Health Professions Boards (Elections) Ordinance 1980.”;
(b) by omitting from sub-section (5) “a registered chiropractor” and substituting “, and for the period of 3 years immediately preceding his or her appointment has been, registered as a chiropractor under the law of a State or Territory”; and
(c) by omitting sub-section (7).
Repeal of sections 5 to 10
5. Sections 5 to 10 (inclusive) of the Principal Ordinance are repealed.
Repeal of Part V
6. Part V of the Principal Ordinance is repealed.
Repeal of sections 60 and 64
7. Sections 60 and 64 of the Principal Ordinance are repealed.
Transitional—appointments of members
8. (1) The person who was, immediately before the commencement of this Ordinance, the Chairman of the Board continues to be the Chairman of the Board as if he had been appointed as the Chairman under the Principal Ordinance as amended by this Ordinance and holds office subject to the Health Professions Boards (Procedures) Ordinance 1981.
(2) The person who was, immediately before the commencement of this Ordinance, the Deputy Chairman of the Board continues to be the Deputy Chairman of the Board as if he had been elected as the Deputy Chairman under the Principal Ordinance as amended by this Ordinance and holds office subject to the Health Professions Boards (Procedures) Ordinance 1981.
(3) A person who held office as a member of the Board, otherwise than as the Chairman of the Board, immediately before the commencement of this Ordinance continues to hold office as a member as if he had been appointed or elected as a member under the Principal Ordinance as amended by this Ordinance and holds office subject to the Health Professions Boards (Procedures) Ordinance 1981.
(4) Notwithstanding the amendments effected by this Ordinance, sub-section 4 (5) of the Principal Ordinance continues to apply in relation to—
(a) a person referred to in sub-section (1), (2) or (3); and
(b) a person elected or appointed as a member at any time during the period of 3 years and 6 months commencing on the date of commencement of the Principal Ordinance.
