Standard Time and Summer Time (Amendment) Ordinance (No. 2) 1986

I, THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL of the Commonwealth of Australia, acting with the advice of the Federal Executive Council, hereby make the following Ordinance under the Seat of Government (Administration) Act 1910.

An Ordinance to amend the Standard Time and Summer Time Ordinance 1972

Short title

1. This Ordinance may be cited as the Standard Time and Summer Time (Amendment) Ordinance (No. 2) 1986.1

Principal Ordinance

2. In this Ordinance, “Principal Ordinance” means the Standard Time and Summer Time Ordinance 1972.2

Interpretation

3. Section 3 of the Principal Ordinance is amended by omitting the definition of “daylight saving period” and substituting the following definition:

“ ‘daylight saving period” means a period in respect of which a declaration of the Minister under section 5A is in force;”.

4. After section 5 of the Principal Ordinance the following section is inserted:

Declaration of daylight saving period

“5A. The Minister may, by notice published in the Gazette, declare a period to be a daylight saving period for the purposes of this Ordinance.”.

Repeal of section 7

5. Section 7 of the Principal Ordinance is repealed.
