ROAD TRANSPORT (SAFETY AND TRAFFIC MANAGEMENT) REGULATION 2000 (REPEALED) - REG 38

Emission of waste oil or grease

    (1)     A person must not use a motor vehicle or trailer on a road unless adequate precautions have been taken to prevent waste oil or grease from the machinery or from any other part of the vehicle from dropping onto the roadway.

Maximum penalty: 20 penalty units.

Note     The title="ARRs">Australian Road Rules

, r 293 requires the driver of a vehicle to remove oil or grease that falls from the vehicle in certain circumstances.

    (2)     Without limiting the liability of anyone else, the responsible person for a motor vehicle or trailer must take reasonable steps to prevent a contravention of subsection (1) in relation to the vehicle.

Maximum penalty: 20 penalty units.
