The Parliament of Australia enacts:

1  Short title 

5 

 

  This Act is the Australian Broadcasting Corporation Amendment 

6 

(Regional Australia) Act 2017.

2  Commencement 

8 

 

(1)  Each provision of this Act specified in column 1 of the table 

9 

commences, or is taken to have commenced, in accordance with 

10 

column 2 of the table. Any other statement in column 2 has effect 

11 

according to its terms.

1  At the end of section 68

(3)  The Corporation must ensure that at least 35 per cent of the money 

6 

of the Corporation applied in a financial year is applied in making 

7 

payments to persons in regional, rural or remote parts of Australia.

2  After paragraph 80(k)

Insert:

(ka)  particulars of the amount of the money of the Corporation 

11 

applied in the period in making payments to persons in 

12 

regional, rural and remote parts of Australia; and 

13 

3  Transitional provision 

14 

If the day this Schedule commences (the commencement day) is a day 

15 

other than 1 July, section 68 of the Australian Broadcasting 

16 

Corporation Act 1983, as amended by this Schedule, has effect as if the 

17 

period between the start of the commencement day and the end of the 

18 

first 30 June to occur on or after the commencement day were a 

19 

financial year.
