A Bill for an Act to amend the Broadcasting Services
Act 1992
The Parliament of Australia enacts:
This Act may be cited as the Quieter Advertising – Happier Homes
Act 2001.
This Act commences on the day on which it receives the Royal
Assent.
Each Act that is specified in a Schedule to this Act is amended or
repealed as set out in the applicable items in the Schedule concerned, and any
other item in a Schedule to this Act has effect according to its
terms.
1 After section 125
Insert:
The ABA must, in writing determine program
standards in relation to the loudness of television advertisements.
2 After paragraph 158(l)
Insert:
(la) to conduct or commission research into the loudness of television
advertisements; and
(lb) to determine program standards in relation to the loudness of
television advertisements; and
(lc) to monitor compliance with those standards;
