ABORIGINAL LAND GRANT (JERVIS BAY TERRITORY) ACT 1986 No. 164 of 1986 - SECT 26
Voting on motions at general meetings
26. (1) Subject to sub-section (2), motions moved at a general meeting shall
be determined by a majority of the votes of the registered members present at
the meeting and voting.
(2) A motion referred to in sub-section 18 (1) or (3) moved at a general
meeting shall be taken to be passed only if it is supported by not less than
two-thirds of the registered members present at the meeting and voting.
(3) A motion referred to in sub-section 18 (3) shall not be moved at a
general meeting unless notice of the motion was given with, and in the same
manner as, the notice of the day, time and place of the meeting given in
accordance with this Act.
(4) The person presiding at a general meeting has a deliberative vote and, in
the event of an equality of votes on a motion, other than a motion referred to
in sub-section 18 (1) or (3), also has a casting vote.
