AUSTRALIAN NATIONAL RAILWAYS COMMISSION ACT 1983 No. 140 of 1983 - SECT 25

25. (1) Subject to this Part, a Commissioner holds office for such period, not
exceeding 5 years, as is specified in the instrument of his appointment, but
is eligible for re-appointment.

(2) If a Commissioner ceases to hold office before the expiration of the
period of his appointment, another person may, in accordance with this Part,
be appointed in his place until the expiration of that period.

(3) A person who has attained the age of 65 years shall not be appointed as
the Chairman on a full-time basis.

(4) A person shall not be appointed as the Chairman on a full-time basis for a
period that extends beyond the date on which he will attain the age of 65
years, but may be appointed for a period of less than 5 years that expires on
that date.
