HORTICULTURAL POLICY COUNCIL ACT 1987 No. 167 of 1987 - SECT 6

Functions
6. The functions of the Council are:

   (a)  to inquire into, and to report to the Minister on, matters affecting
        the well-being of Australian horticultural industries that, in the
        opinion of the Council, require investigation or action by, or at the
        request of, the Commonwealth or an authority of the Commonwealth;

   (b)  to inquire into, and to report to the Minister on, matters referred to
        it by the Minister in relation to Australian horticultural industries;

   (c)  to develop recommendations, guidelines and plans for measures designed
        to safeguard or further the interests of Australian horticultural
        industries, and to submit these to the Minister for consideration by
        the Minister or for referral to other persons, bodies or authorities;

   (d)  to consult and co-operate with persons, bodies and authorities in
        relation to matters affecting Australian horticultural industries; and

   (e)  such other functions in relation to Australian horticultural
        industries as are conferred on the Council by or under this Act or any
        other Act.
