HORTICULTURAL RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT CORPORATION ACT 1987 No. 166 of 1987 - SECT 5

5. The objects of the establishment of the Corporation are:

   (a)  to improve the efficiency and competitiveness of Australian
        horticultural industries by:

        (i)    identifying priority areas of horticultural research and
               development;

        (ii)   improving the efficiency and effectiveness of horticultural
               research and development;

        (iii)  making more effective use of the resources available for
               horticultural research and development; and

        (iv)   making more effective use of the skills available in the
               community in general, and in the scientific community in
               particular, for horticultural research and development;

   (b)  to develop in Australian horticultural industries an awareness of the
        contribution that can be made by
        horticultural research and development in improving their efficiency
        and competitiveness; and

   (c)  to ensure sound accountability for expenditure on horticultural
        research and development.
