INDUSTRY COMMISSION ACT 1989 No. 9 of 1990 - SECT 17
Procedure at hearings
17. (1) Subject to subsection (2), a hearing must be held in public.
(2) If the Commission is satisfied that it is desirable to do so in the public
interest because of the confidential nature of any evidence or matter or for
any other reason, it may:
(a) direct that a hearing or a part of a hearing is to take place in
private and give directions as to the persons who may be present; or
(b) give directions prohibiting or restricting the publication of evidence
given before the hearing or of matters contained in documents given to
the Commission.
(3) A person must not contravene a direction given under paragraph (2) (b).
Penalty: Imprisonment for 6 months or the corresponding fine fixed by
section 4B of the Crimes Act 1914.
