TELECOMMUNICATIONS ACT 1997 No. 47 of 1997 - SECT 142
142 Supply of standard telephone services
(1) A reference in this Part to the supply of a standard telephone service
includes a reference to the supply of:
(a) if the regulations prescribe customer equipment for the purposes of
this paragraph-whichever of the following is applicable:
(i) that customer equipment;
(ii) if other customer equipment is supplied, instead of the
first-mentioned customer equipment, in order to comply with the
Disability Discrimination Act 1992-that other customer
equipment; and
(b) if paragraph (a) does not apply-whichever of the following is
applicable:
(i) a telephone handset that does not have switching functions;
(ii) if other customer equipment is supplied, instead of such a
handset, in order to comply with the Disability Discrimination
Act 1992-that other customer equipment; and
(c) other goods of a kind specified in the regulations; and
(d) services of a kind specified in the regulations; where the equipment,
goods or services, as the case may be, are for use in connection with
the standard telephone service.
(2) A reference in this Part to the supply of a standard telephone service
includes a reference to the supply, to a person with a disability, of:
(a) customer equipment of a kind specified in the regulations; and
(b) other goods of a kind specified in the regulations; and
(c) services of a kind specified in the regulations; where the equipment,
goods or services, as the case may be, are for use in connection with
the standard telephone service.
(3) In this section:
disability has the same meaning as in the Disability Discrimination Act 1992
.
