VETERANS' AFFAIRS LEGISLATION AMENDMENT ACT 1988 No. 134 of 1988 - SECT 26

26. After section 132 of the Principal Act the following section is inserted
in Part VIII: Advance of travelling expenses

"132A. (1) Where the Commission is satisfied:

   (a)  that a person may reasonably be expected to become entitled to be paid
        travelling expenses under subsection 132 (5) or (6) or under
        subsection 132 (9) by virtue of paragraph (d) of that subsection; and

   (b)  that it is in all the circumstances appropriate for the person to be
        paid an advance on account of the travelling expenses that the person
        is expected to become entitled to be paid; the Commission may
        authorise a payment to the person of an advance on account of the
        travelling expenses that the person is expected to become entitled to
        be paid.

"(2) If the amount of the advance paid to a person on account of any
travelling expenses in respect of any travel of the person exceeds the amount
of travelling expenses that become payable to the person in respect of that
travel, the person is liable to repay an amount equal to the excess to the
Commonwealth.". Commencement: Day of Royal Assent
