1992 No. 188 HEARING SERVICES REGULATIONS - REG 3

Interpretation
3. (1) In these Regulations:

"acoustic laboratory" means an acoustic laboratory controlled by the
Authority;

"client" means a person to whom a hearing aid service is provided, or has at
any time been provided:

   (a)  under Part 8A of the National Health Regulations as in force
        immediately before 1 July 1992; or

   (b)  under the Act;

"government agency" means:

   (a)  the Commonwealth, a State or a Territory; or

   (b)  a public authority of the Commonwealth, a State or a Territory; or

   (c)  a body corporate:

        (i)    that is not a public authority referred to in paragraph (b);
               and

        (ii)   in which the Commonwealth, a State, a Territory or a public
               authority referred to in paragraph (b) has an interest, and
               that interest is or, if there is more than 1 interest of that
               kind, those interests together are, a controlling interest;

"hearing aid charge" means a charge mentioned in regulation 5;

"hearing aid service" means any of the following hearing services:

   (a)  a service for the provision of a battery for for use with a hearing
        product;

   (b)  a service for the maintenance by the Authority of a hearing product;

   (c)  a service for the replacement by the Authority of a lost, damaged or
        obsolete hearing product;

"spouse" includes a de facto spouse;

"the Act" means the Hearing Services Act 1991.
