1992 No. 188 HEARING SERVICES REGULATIONS - REG 7

Charge for audiometric testing
7. (1) A charge of $81 is payable for each hour or part of an hour in which
audiometric testing is conducted at an acoustic laboratory as part of the
medical examination of a person:

   (a)  who is an applicant for the grant or renewal under the Civil Aviation
        Regulations of:

        (i)    a commercial pilot licence; or

        (ii)   a senior commercial pilot licence; or

        (iii)  a second class airline transport pilot licence; or

        (iv)   a first class airline transport pilot licence; or

        (v)    a flight navigator licence; or

        (vi)   a flight radiotelephone operator licence; or

        (vii)  a flight radiotelegraph operator licence; or

        (viii) a flight engineer licence; or

   (b)  for the purposes of medical treatment within the meaning of the
        Commonwealth Employees' Rehabilitation and Compensation Act 1988; or

   (c)  who is referred to the laboratory in the course of the provision of
        rehabilitation services by the Commonwealth to that person under Part
        III of the Disability Services Act 1988 in relation to an incapacity,
        or possible incapacity, in respect of which a worker's compensation
        payment is, or may be, made to the person.

(2) A charge of $25 is payable for audiometric testing, other than testing to
which subregulation (1) applies, conducted at an acoustic laboratory in
respect of a person who:

   (a)  constitutes, or is a member of, a public authority of the
        Commonwealth, a State or a Territory; or

   (b)  is a director, an officer or an employee of a government agency.
(3) In paragraph (1) (c), "worker's compensation payment" means a payment that
is, or would be, made within or outside Australia wholly or partly as
compensation for injury at, or disease or disability caused by, work:

   (a)  by way of damages; or

   (b)  under a scheme of compensation or insurance provided for by a law of
        the Commonwealth (other than the law referred to in paragraph (1) (b))
        or of a State or Territory, including a payment under a contract
        entered into under a scheme of that kind; or

   (c)  whether with or without admission of liability, in settlement of a
        claim under a scheme of that kind or of a claim for damages; other
        than a payment under a contract of insurance to which the person is a
        party.
