An Act to amend the District Court Act 1973 to increase the jurisdictional limits of the District
Court.
I have examined this bill and find it to correspond in all respects with the bill as finally
passed by both Houses.

The Legislature of New South Wales enacts--
1 Name of Act
This Act is the District Court Amendment Act 2022.
2 Commencement
This Act commences on a day to be appointed by proclamation.

[1] Section 4 Definitions: general
Omit "$750,000" from section 4(1), definition of jurisdictional limit.
Insert instead "$1,250,000".
[2] Section 134 Jurisdiction in equity proceedings
Omit "$20,000" wherever occurring from section 134(1)(a), (b)(i) and (ii), (d), (e) and (f).
Insert instead "$100,000".
[3] Section 140 Temporary injunctions
Omit "$20,000" from section 140(1)(b). Insert instead "$100,000".
[4] Schedule 3 Savings and transitional provisions consequent on amendments to this
Act
Insert after clause 14--
Part 11 Provision consequent on enactment of District
Court Amendment Act 2022
15 Change in jurisdictional limits
The amendments to sections 4, 134 and 140 made by the District Court
Amendment Act 2022 apply only to proceedings commenced in the Court after
the commencement of that Act.
