I have examined this Bill, and find it to correspond in all respects with the Bill as finally passed by both Houses. Chairman of Committees of the Legislative Assembly. Clause 1 Penalty Notices Validation Bill 2000 The Legislature of New South Wales enacts: 1 Name of Act This Act is the Penalty Notices Validation Act 2000. 2 Commencement This Act is taken to have commenced on the day on which the Bill for this Act was first introduced into the Legislative Assembly. 3 Validation (1) Any penalty notice issued under section 18B of the Traffic Act 1909 during the relevant period by an employee of a local council who could validly have issued the notice had the council been authorised by the Commissioner of Police for the purposes of Regulation 130A (1) (f1) of the Motor Traffic Regulations 1935 at the time of issue, is taken at the time of issue and at all relevant times after the issue to have been validly issued. (2) In this section, relevant period means the period commencing on 22 June 1995 and ending with 24 March 1999, inclusive. Page 2
