Overview of Bill
The objects of this Bill are:
(a) to ensure that the Avalon police station site remains in public ownership, and
(b) to limit the use of the site to police and emergency services.
Outline of provisions
Clause 1 sets out the name (also called the short title) of the proposed Act.Clause 2 provides for the commencement of the proposed Act on the date of assent
to the proposed Act.Clause 3 defines the Avalon police station site and contains other interpretative
provisions for the purposes of the proposed Act.Clause 4 specifies the objects of the proposed Act.
Clause 5 prohibits the Avalon police station site from being sold, transferred, leased
or otherwise alienated.Clause 6 restricts development of the Avalon police station site so that it can only be
used for the purposes of police or other emergency services.Clause 7 prevents any development of the Avalon police station site from becoming
a project to which Part 3A of the Environmental Planning and Assessment Act 1979
applies.
