No. V. A n Act to enable t h e G o v e r n m e n t to raise a certain Loan for 1858. [21st July, 1858.] W HEREAS it is expedient to enable the Government to borrow the sum of one hundred and forty-five thousand pounds towards enabling the Government to pay oil certain Land and Immi gration Debentures which will fall due in the years one thousand eight hundred and fifty-eight and one thousand eight hundred and fiftynine respectively Be it therefore enacted by the Queen's Most Excellent Majesty by and with the advice and consent of the Legislative Council and Legislatve Assembly of New South Wales in Parliament assembled and by the authority of the same as follows :-- 1. 1. It shall be lawful for the Governor with the advice of the Executive Council to raise by the sale of Debentures secured upon the Consolidated Revenue Eund of the Colony and bearing interest at a rate not exceeding five per centum per annum such sum or sums of money not exceeding one hundred and forty-five thousand pounds as may be required to pay off and discharge certain Land and Immigration Debentures which will fall due in the said years one thousand eight hundred and fifty-eight and one thousand eight hundred and fifty-nine respectively And all sums borrowed under this Act shall be paid to the Colonial Treasurer and shall be by him placed to the credit of the Consolidated Revenue Eund and shall be applied towards the purposes for which the same shall have been raised and shall be accounted for in the same manner as if they had formed part of the Current Annual Revenue of the Colony. 2. This Act mav be cited as " The Land and Immigration Loan Act of 1858."
