JOHN DOWD Attorney General. Commencement 1. This Regulation commences on 1 January 1991. Amendment 2. The Coroners Regulation 1980 is amended by omitting clause 4 and by inserting instead the following clause: Fees 4. The following are the fees payable under section 52 of the Act to a medical practitioner who performs a service in accordance with an order or request of a coroner: Service performed (a) carrying out an external examination of a dead person's body and providing on the prescribed form a report of the examination to the coroner Fee $50 if the examination is carried out during normal hours and $65 if carried out outside normal hours 2 1990 - No. 769 ( b ) carrying out an internal examination of a dead person's body after opening the 3 cavities of the body and providing on the prescribed form a report of the examination to the coroner $221 ( c ) travelling to and from. and attending and giving evidence at, a place at which an inquest is held with respect to an examination referred to in paragraph (a) or (b) (d) giving expert evidence at an inquest with respect to an examination referred to in paragraph (a) or (b) $155 for the first 2 hours, or part of 2 hours, and $25 for each half hour afterwards. to a maximum of $500 for any one day $11 (e) using his or her own motor vehicle for the purpose of travelling to a place to carry out an examination referred to in paragraph (a) or (b), or travelling to a place to give evidence at an inquest with respect to the examination. $0.90 for each kilometre travelled to the place. EXPLANATORY NOTE The object of this Regulation is to amend the Coroners Regulation 1980 so as to increase the fees payable to a medical practitioner who examines the body of a person who has died and attends an inquest into the person's death. The fees were last increased as from 4 March 1985.
