1992--No. 659 STATUTE LAW (MISCELLANEOUS PROVISIONS) ACT (NO. 3) 1992 NO. 111--PROCLAMATION NEW SOUTH WALES [Published in Gazette No. 148 of 24 December 1992] (L.S.) P. R. SINCLAIR, Governor. I, Rear Admiral PETER ROSS SINCLAIR, A.C., Governor of the State of New South Wales, with the advice of the Executive Council, and in pursuance of Schedule 1 to the Statute Law (Miscellaneous Provisions) Act (No. 3) 1992, do, by this my Proclamation, appoint 1 January 1993 as the day on which the amendments to the University of Western Sydney Act 1988 set out in that Schedule commence. Signed and sealed at Sydney, this 23rd day of December, 1992. By His Excellency's Command, KERRY CHIKAROVSKI, Assistant Minister for Education. GOD SAVE THE QUEEN! 2 1992--No. 659 EXPLANATORY NOTE The object of this Proclamation is to commence the amendments to the University of Western Sydney Act 1988 contained in the Statute Law (Miscellaneous Provisions) Act (No. 3) 1992. The amendments replace the requirement that 4 of the appointed members of the Board of Governors of the University of Western Sydney be nominees of the Senate of the University of Sydney with the requirement that the members be persons who have, in the opinion of the Minister, expertise in an academic discipline taught by the University or who practise, or have practised, a profession or who have other appropriate qualifications or experience. The amendments also provide for the inclusion of both an undergraduate student and a postgraduate student of the University (neither of whom is to be a member of the University's academic or non-academic staff) as elected members of the Board.
