After section 12

insert

12A     Use of custodial correctional facility to accommodate sheriff's detainees

    (1)     The sheriff may make such arrangements with the Commissioner of Correctional Services as are necessary and appropriate for accommodating persons who are in the custody of the sheriff at custodial correctional facilities.

    (2)     A person who is accommodated at a custodial correctional facility under such an arrangement is taken to remain in the custody of the sheriff.
