1999 A BILL FOR An Act to amend the Weapons Act 1990

 


 

4 Weapons Amendment The Parliament of Queensland enacts-- 1 title 2 Short 1. This Act may be cited as the Weapons Amendment Act 1999. 3 amended 4 Act 2. This Act amends the Weapons Act 1990. 5 of s 33 (Interstate residents moving to Queensland) 6 Amendment 3.(1) Section 33(1) to (5)-- 7 omit, insert-- 8 `33.(1) This section applies if an interstate licence holder gives the 9 commissioner-- 10 (a) written notice of the person's intention to reside in Queensland-- 11 (i) for up to 1 year; or 12 (ii) permanently; and 13 (b) proof that the person is a current member of an approved 14 shooting club. 15 `(2) While the person resides in Queensland, the person's licence is taken 16 to be the corresponding licence under this Act in force-- 17 (a) from the day-- 18 (i) the person gives the commissioner the notice and proof 19 mentioned in subsection (1); or 20 (ii) if the person takes up residence in Queensland after giving 21 the commissioner the notice and proof--the person takes up 22 residence; and 23 (b) until it would otherwise expire under the law of the other State. 24 `(3) The commissioner must, by written notice to the person, promptly 25 acknowledge that the licence is taken to be a corresponding licence under 26

 


 

5 Weapons Amendment this Act while the person resides in Queensland.'. 1 (2) Section 33(6)-- 2 insert-- 3 ` "interstate licence holder" means a person who-- 4 (a) is a resident of another State; and 5 (b) holds a licence in force under the law of the other State that 6 authorises possession of a category A, B, C, D or H weapon.'. 7 8
