Corrective Services and Other Legislation Amendment Bill 2009 Corrective Services and Other Legislation Amendment Bill 2009 Explanatory Notes for Amendments to be moved during consideration in detail by the Honourable Neil Roberts MP Title of the Bill Corrective Services and Other Legislation Amendment Bill 2009 Objectives of the Amendments The objective of the amendments is to correct typographical errors in the Bill. NOTES ON PROVISIONS Amendment 1 amends the heading to the new section 185A in clause 24 of the Bill by deleting the word "emergency" and inserting the word "exceptional." The clause refers to exceptional circumstances parole and this amendment will ensure that theheading is consistent with the section that follows. Amendment 2 amends the definition of "approved resettlement leave program" in clause 40 of the Bill by deleting the reference to "Corrective Services and Other Legislation Amendment Act (No 2) 2008" and inserting "Corrective Services and Other Legislation Amendment Act 2009." This amendment is being made to ensure that the transitional provision in Page 1
Corrective Services and Other Legislation Amendment Bill 2009 relation to resettlement leave of absence is effective by referring to the correct Act. Amendment 3 amends the definition of "leave of absence" paragraphs (e) and (f). These paragraphs are amended by deleting the reference to "Corrective Services and Other Legislation Amendment Act (No 2) 2008" and inserting "Corrective Services and Other Legislation Amendment Act 2009." These amendments are being made to ensure that the transitional provisions in relation to leave of absence are effective by referring to the correct Act. � State of Queensland 2009 Page 2
