Unauthorised feeding of animals
128 Unauthorised feeding of animals
(1) A person, other than an authorised person, in a protected area must not,
without the written approval of the chief executive, feed an animal that is
dangerous, venomous or capable of injuring a person. Penalty— Maximum
penalty— (a) if the animal is a dingo and the offence is committed on
K’gari—165 penalty units; or
(b) if the animal is an estuarine
crocodile—165 penalty units; or
(c) otherwise—40 penalty units.
(2) A
person, other than an authorised person, in a protected area must not, without
the written approval of the chief executive, feed an animal if a regulatory
notice prohibits the feeding of the animal. Penalty— Maximum penalty—
(a) if the animal is a dingo and the offence is committed on K’gari—165
penalty units; or
(b) if the animal is an estuarine crocodile—165 penalty
units; or
(c) otherwise—40 penalty units.
(3) However, a person may,
without the written approval of the chief executive, feed an animal lawfully
taken into the protected area under the Act .
(4) For section 9 , this
section applies in relation to a special wildlife reserve.
(5) Also, for
sections 9 and 9A , subsection (1) applies in relation to a nature refuge or
private land in a coordinated conservation area.
(6) In this section—
"feed" , in relation to an animal, includes— (a) use food to tease or lure
the animal; and
(b) attempt to feed the animal.
