(1) A person must not give an official performing a function under this Act information the person knows is false or misleading in a material particular.Penalty—Maximum penalty—100 penalty units.
(2) Subsection (1) does not apply to a person if the person, when giving the information in a document—(a) tells the official, to the best of the person’s ability, how the document is false or misleading; and(b) if the person has, or can reasonably obtain, the correct information—gives the correct information.
(3) In this section—
"official" means—(a) the chief executive; or(b) a member of the staff of the chief executive or a contractor engaged by the chief executive; or(c) an inspector; or(d) the registrar; or(e) a member of the staff of the registrar or a contractor engaged by the registrar.
