HEAVY VEHICLE NATIONAL LAW AMENDMENT ACT 2013 No. 4 - SECT 50

50 Obtaining registration or registration items by false statements etc.

(1) A person must not attempt to have a heavy vehicle registered, or to have the registration of a heavy vehicle renewed or transferred, or to be issued with an unregistered heavy vehicle permit, under this Law—

(a) by making a statement or representation the person knows is false or misleading in a material particular; or
(b) in another dishonest way.

Maximum penalty—$10000.

(2) A person must not, without a reasonable excuse, possess a registration item obtained—

(a) by making a statement or representation the person knows is false or misleading in a material particular; or
(b) in another dishonest way.

Maximum penalty—$10000.

(3) The registration of a heavy vehicle is void if a person contravenes subsection (1) in relation to the registration or the renewal or transfer of the registration of the vehicle.

(4) A registration item is void if a person contravenes subsection (2) in relation to obtaining the item.
