Application for grant of accreditation
74 Application for grant of accreditation
(1) This section applies if a traditional owner group for an area of the
marine park prepares a traditional use of marine resources agreement for the
area.
(2) A person may, on behalf of the traditional owner group, apply to
the chief executive for accreditation of the traditional use of marine
resources agreement.
(3) The application must— (a) be in writing; and
(b)
state the following information— (i) the names of all the members of the
traditional owner group in whose name the application is made;
(ii) the name
and address of the person nominated by the traditional owner group to whom
correspondence may be sent on behalf of the group; and
(c) be accompanied
by— (i) a copy of the traditional use of marine resources agreement; and
(ii) written confirmation, by the relevant representative Aboriginal/Torres
Strait Islander body for the area, that each member of the traditional owner
group in whose name the application is made is a traditional owner for the
area in the marine park to which the agreement relates.
(4) If the chief
executive agrees, the applicant may amend the application before the chief
executive decides the application.
(5) In this section—
"representative Aboriginal/Torres Strait Islander body" has the meaning given
by the Native Title Act 1993 (Cwlth) .
