23—Duty and responsibility of poundkeeper
(1) The keeper of
every public pound shall receive into his custody any cattle impounded in the
pound, and shall detain the same in his custody, whether in the pound or
elsewhere, until they are released, sold, or otherwise disposed of, according
to the provisions of this Act.
(2) The poundkeeper
shall be responsible to the owner of any cattle impounded for loss or damage
sustained by the poundkeeper's wilful act or neglect, or the wilful act or
neglect of any of his servants, but not otherwise, until such cattle are
released, sold, or otherwise disposed of, according to the provisions of this
Act.
