FACT SHEET Corrections Amendment Bill 2018 The Corrections Amendment Bill 2018 implements the Government’s commitment to legislate to ensure that a member with policing experience is represented on the Parole Board that is established under the Corrections Act 1997. The Bill provides for a fourth member of the Parole Board who has experience serving as a police officer in Tasmania, or in another State or Territory. The new member must not be a currently serving police officer. The Bill also provides that questions of the Board are to be decided by a majority of votes. If in making a decision there are an even number of votes, the member presiding will have the casting vote. Page 1 of 1
