CONSOLIDATED FUND APPROPRIATION (SUPPLEMENTARY APPROPRIATION FOR 2010-2011) BILL 17 OF 2011

                                  FACT SHEET

         CONSOLIDATED FUND APPROPRIATION (SUPPLEMENTARY
                APPROPRIATION FOR 2010-11) BILL 2011

A supplementary appropriation, in accordance with the Public Account Act 1986,
is sought from the Consolidated Fund for material expenditure variations which
have occurred since the 2010-11 Budget.

The 2010-11 Mid-Year Financial Report incorporated the majority of these
variations, including additional funding to the Department of Health and Human
Services of $70.0 million and the Department of Education of $27.0 million.

Requests for additional funding of $31.8 million for the delivery of health and
human services; $3.2 million for the maintenance program within schools; and
$9.3 million to provide for natural disaster relief have been received subsequently
to the release of the Report and are included in the supplementary appropriation.

It is anticipated that other expenditure variations will arise for the current year and
further funding for 2010-11 will be managed by way of a Request for Additional
Funds, within the limitations of the Treasurer's Reserve. The utilisation of
Australian Government payments will also be managed by way of RAFs.
