FIRST HOME OWNER GRANT AMENDMENT BILL 2019 BILL 24 OF 2019

                   First Home Owner Grant Amendment Bill 2019


   On 12 May 2019, the Government announced that the First Home Owner Grant of
    $20 000 would be extended to 30 June 2020.

   This Bill amends the First Home Owner Grant Act 2000 to extend the Grant for eligible first
    home buyers of newly constructed homes, those who have new homes constructed, and
    owner builders from 1 July 2019 to 30 June 2020 inclusive.

   The Grant is currently at $20 000 but is due to revert to $10 000 on 1 July 2019. These
    amendments will extend the FHOG at $20 000 for a further 12 months.

   This measure will make it more affordable for first home buyers to build and will increase
    activity in the building industry.
