(1) A driver turning at an intersection with traffic lights must give way to (a) any pedestrian at or near the intersection who is crossing the road the driver is entering; and(b) if the driver is turning left at a left turn on red after stopping sign at the intersection (i) any vehicle approaching from the right, turning right at the intersection into the road the driver is entering or making a U-turn; and(ii) any pedestrian at or near the intersection who is on the road the driver is leaving; and(c) if the driver is turning right any oncoming vehicle that is going straight ahead or turning left at the intersection (except a vehicle turning left using a slip lane).Penalty: Fine not exceeding 10 penalty units.

In relation to paragraph (a), rule 353(1) specifies that a driver is not required to give way to a pedestrian who is crossing the road that the driver is leaving, and rule 353(2) provides that a pedestrian who is only crossing a part of a road is considered to be crossing the road.(2) However, a driver who is turning at an intersection with traffic arrows showing a green traffic arrow need not give way to an oncoming vehicle if the driver is turning in the direction indicated by the green traffic arrow.

Examples
Example 1Giving way to a pedestrian on the road the driver is entering. The vehicle must give way to the pedestrian.
Example 2Driver turning right giving way to an oncoming vehicle going straight ahead. Vehicle B must give way to vehicle A.
Example 3Driver turning right does not have to give way to an oncoming vehicle that is turning left into the road the driver is entering using a slip lane. Vehicle B must give way to vehicle A.
