(1) A light trailer with a GTM of more than 750 kilograms must have brakes that operate on at least one wheel at each end of one or more axles of the trailer.(2) A light semi-trailer or converter dolly with a GTM of more than 2 tonnes must have brakes that operate on all its wheels.(3) Subregulations (1) and (2) do not apply to (a) a trailer with a GTM of 2 tonnes or less that was built before 1 July 1988; or(b) a trailer designed mainly for use in a specialised activity such as agriculture or road construction and which is not designed or built to carry a load.
