Part 1 of Schedule 6 to the Principal Rules is amended as follows:

(a) by omitting clause 8 and substituting the following clause:

8.    Rule 288: Driving on a path

For rule 288 , a driver is permitted to drive on a path if –

(a) the driver's vehicle is being used in connection with works being carried out by a Road Authority; and

(b) in the circumstances it is not practicable to comply with the rule; and

(c) the driver takes reasonable care and does not exceed 10 kilometres per hour.

Note : Road Authority is defined in the dictionary.

(b) by inserting the following clause after clause 9 :

10.    Rule 313: Exemption for postal vehicles

For rule 313 , none of the provisions mentioned in subrule (2) of the rule apply to the driver of a postal vehicle.

These regulations amend the Road Rules by –

(a) exempting postal vehicles and transport inspectors from certain rules; and

(b) effecting statute law revision.
