PARLIAMENT OF VICTORIA Introduced in the Assembly Parliamentary Salaries and Superannuation Amendment Bill 2007 A Bill for an Act to amend the Parliamentary Salaries and Superannuation Act 1968 and for other purposes. The Parliament of Victoria enacts: 1 Purpose The purpose of this Act is to amend the Parliamentary Salaries and Superannuation Act 1968 to limit any increase in the salary 5 payable to members of the Parliament of Victoria in the current financial year to 325 %. 2 Commencement (1) This Act, other than section 4, is deemed to have come into operation on 1 July 2007. 561148B.I-17/7/2007 1 BILL LA INTRODUCTION 17/7/2007
Parliamentary Salaries and Superannuation Amendment Bill 2007 s. 3 (2) Section 4 comes into operation on a day to be proclaimed. Note See the note at the foot of section 4. 5 3 Amendment of section 3--definitions See: In section 3 of the Parliamentary Salaries and Act No. 7723. Superannuation Act 1968, in the definition of Reprint No. 9 basic salary for "$1442" substitute "$5733". as at 1 December 2005 and amending Act Nos 97/2005 and 4/2007. LawToday: www. legislation. vic.gov.au 4 Amendment of section 3--definitions 10 In section 3 of the Parliamentary Salaries and Superannuation Act 1968, in the definition of basic salary for "$5733" substitute "$1442". Note Section 4 would only be proclaimed if the relevant determinations 15 of the Federal Remuneration Tribunal with respect to the amount of the annual allowance by way of salary payable with effect from 1 July 2007 to members of the House of Representatives were disapproved of under the Remuneration Tribunal Act 1973 of the Commonwealth. The effect of proclaiming this section would be 20 that the basic salary of members would revert on and from the date of the proclamation to the amount payable immediately before 1 July 2007. 561148B.I-17/7/2007 2 BILL LA INTRODUCTION 17/7/2007
