The main purposes of this Act are—
(a) to amend the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act 1986 —
(i) to provide for the registration and enforcement of interstate court orders relating to the custody of animals; and
(ii) to strengthen the enforcement provisions of that Act with respect to the seizure of animals and other things; and
(b) to amend the Domestic (Feral and Nuisance) Animals Act 1994 —
(i) to require the permanent identification of menacing dogs; and
(ii) to provide for the seizure of cats not wearing identification; and
(iii) to provide for the power to destroy seized dogs whose owners cannot be located; and
(c) to amend the Fisheries Act 1995 —
(i) to enable size limits for a species of fish to be fixed by a fisheries notice; and
(ii) to strengthen the enforcement powers in that Act in relation to the production of documents and records.
