ROAD LEGISLATION AMENDMENT ACT 2009 (NO. 28 OF 2009) - SECT 17

For section 63B(1) of the Principal Act substitute —

    "(1)     The Chief Commissioner of Police may authorise the use by members of the police force of a device (a tyre deflation device ) that causes the deflation of the tyres of a vehicle—

        (a)     to prevent the use of the vehicle by a person for the purpose of escaping from lawful custody or avoiding arrest; or

        (b)     to stop or assist in stopping a vehicle in connection with the pursuit of the vehicle by members of the police force.".
