(1) A police officer
may, at any time, stop and detain a person if there are reasonable grounds for
suspecting that the person has confiscable property, or
property-tracking documents, in his or her possession.
(2) A police officer
may, at any time, stop and detain a person if there are reasonable grounds for
suspecting that another person is holding confiscable property, or
property-tracking documents, on behalf of the person to be detained.
(3) For the purpose of
exercising his or her powers under subsection (1) or (2), a
police officer may stop and detain a vehicle.
(4) When a
police officer detains a person under subsection (1) or (2), the
officer may —
(a)
search the person in accordance with section 75; and
(b)
search any baggage, package, vehicle or anything else apparently in the
possession or under the control of the person.
(5) When exercising
his or her powers under this section, a police officer may use any necessary
force and any assistance the officer thinks necessary.
