(1) The CEO must give
each inspector an identity card.
(2) The identity card
must —
(a)
identify the person as an inspector; and
(b)
include any other matter prescribed by the regulations.
(3) An inspector
must —
(a)
carry the inspector’s identity card when exercising a power under this
Act; and
(b) if
it is practicable to do so — produce the identity card before
exercising a power under this Act.
(4) However, if for
any reason it is not practicable to comply with subsection (3)(b) before
exercising the power, the inspector may exercise the power and then produce
the identity card at the first reasonable opportunity.
(5) In any
proceedings, the production of an identity card is evidence of the designation
of the inspector to whom the identity card relates.
(6) A person must not,
without reasonable excuse, fail to return their identity card to the CEO
within 14 days after ceasing to be an inspector.
Penalty for this subsection: a fine of
$5 000.
